Designing a pooja unit for a modern apartment

Even the most compact home can have a serene, beautiful mandir. Placement, materials and lighting ideas that work.

Pooja wall with carved niches and lotus motifs

Most apartments don't have room for a separate pooja room — but a thoughtfully designed unit can feel just as sacred.

Placement

Many families prefer the north-east of the home, facing east or west while praying. A quiet wall away from the bathroom and kitchen chimney works well. If Vastu matters to you, we're happy to plan around your consultant's guidance.

Materials

Carved wood brings warmth, CNC jaali adds pattern and light, and marble or Corian is heat-safe around the diya. Brass bells and handles complete the look.

Lighting

Hidden warm-white LED strips behind the jaali or above the idols give a soft glow without glare. Put them on a separate switch so the unit can glow on its own in the evenings.
